Council approves first amendment to La Esperanza subdivision development agreement

Council approved Resolution No. 2355, amending the Esperanza subdivision development agreement to allow city use of off-site frontage funds for a larger street-improvement project rather than limiting them to frontage-only work.
The San Luis City Council on Feb. 12 approved Resolution No. 2355, the first amendment to the La Esperanza subdivision development agreement. Development Services Director Jose Guzman told the council the amendment would allow the city to use funds that were originally required for frontage improvements on Eighth Avenue and Sixth Avenue for a broader project to design and complete improvements on the full Sixth Avenue corridor to County 20 Second.
Guzman explained that, rather than requiring the developer's money to be restricted to frontage work only, amending the agreement would permit the city to apply those funds to a larger design and construction effort that would better serve connectivity in the area.
After no substantive questions, a councilmember moved to approve the amendment; the motion passed with council consent, the record showing approval with one abstention noted in the roll-call summary for items on the agenda that evening.
