The Green Bay Plan Commission on Feb. 24 approved a rezoning request that will change 1650 Mason Way from R-3 (very high density residential) to R-1 (low-density residential) so the parcel can be combined with an adjacent property the city is declaring surplus.
A staff member from the Community and Economic Development Department said the subject parcel contains a single-family home and that the change is a cleanup item required so the parcels can be combined into one R-1 lot. The staff presentation noted that the neighboring parcel had previously been the subject of a surplus declaration; the surplus process remains pending because a legal description has not yet been secured.
No members of the public spoke at the public hearing, and commissioners moved to approve the rezoning. Commissioner Folwell moved approval and Commissioner Darius Daniels seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote. The item will be forwarded to the City Council on March 4 for final action.
