San Luis council OKs slurry seal and striping work on Main Street; work to align with county project

The San Luis City Council on Feb. 12 authorized this year's pavement preservation work on Main Street, approving a slurry-seal application contract and a road-striping contract that staff said will complement Yuma County's recent mill-and-overlay project on Highway 95.
Manuel Hernandez, assistant director of public works, said the city will piggyback on Yuma County's cooperative purchasing agreements: the slurry seal will be provided through the county's cooperative agreement with American Pavement Preservation and striping through Franklin Striping Incorporated. Hernandez said both cooperative agreements comply with Arizona cooperative‑purchasing statutes (ARS) and align with the city's purchasing code.
The council approved acceptance of slurry-seal services from American Pavement Preservation in the amount of $178,750.71 and striping services from Franklin Striping Incorporated in the amount recorded in the agenda item. The slurry sealing is scheduled between April and June of this year to complement adjacent county work.
Councilmembers voted to authorize the contracts and to approve the associated budget transfer presented in the fiscal impact statement.
