TEA conservator begins monthly reporting cycle, will focus on academics, finance and governance

A TEA conservator addressed the La Joya ISD board Feb. 26 and said monthly reports will begin following a three-month initial period; the conservator said future monthly updates will focus on the exit-criteria areas identified by the Texas Education Agency: academics, finance and governance.
The conservator said he began in late November and that this first public report was intentionally brief; future monthly reports will drill into progress for each exit criterion. He described his regular activities as meeting with the board (including closed session attendance), observing cabinet and division meetings, and holding one-on-one meetings with district leadership. He told the board that district divisions are executing at a rapid pace and praised the chiefs and central-office staff for the amount of work underway.
Board members thanked the conservator. The board president noted appreciation for the conservator's support and engagement.
