District previews 2025–28 comprehensive plan; materials to be posted online before March vote

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Billy Shakes and other administrators presented the district’s draft 2025–28 comprehensive plan and accompanying required documents at the Feb. 25 meeting. Dr. Shakes said the comprehensive plan and required plans (including induction, Act 48 professional development and the gifted-services plan) will be posted on the district website the day after the meeting and will come to the board for final approval in March before submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Dr. Shakes highlighted that the plan reflects extensive committee input on strengths and challenges, cited STEM and LEAD programming as district strengths and noted goals to raise academic achievement by third grade. He also said the document includes the LEA profile and multiple subcommittee contributions; approximately 46 pages of the plan were referenced during the presentation.
Board members were invited to review the posted materials and submit comments before the March board meeting, when the board will vote on final approval and submission to the state.
