Lake County supervisors assign primary, alternate to Clear Lake Blue Ribbon Committee; scheduling concern raised

The Lake County Board of Supervisors voted to delegate the county's seats on the Blue Ribbon Committee for the rehabilitation of Clear Lake, naming Vice Chair Rasmussen as the primary delegate and Supervisor Owen as the alternate.

Board members said the appointment clarifies roles after the board's Jan. 7 committee assignments left the primary/alternate designation unclear. During discussion, a board member noted the Blue Ribbon Committee scheduled nearly all of its 2025 meetings on days the board is in session, meaning the board could be unrepresented except for a March meeting.

The scheduling issue drew particular concern. A board member said, "the rest of the year have all been set on days that we are in session," and reported speaking with Sam Miguel (program staff; title not specified) to express that concern. The board member said the scheduling matter is planned for discussion at the board's March 19 meeting.

There were no public commenters in the chamber and none participating remotely on Zoom, the clerk reported. The board then moved, seconded and approved the delegation by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded on the transcript. The chair closed public comment and announced the motion carried with a voice vote.

The action assigns a county representative to the Blue Ribbon Committee but does not itself change the committee's meeting schedule; supervisors said they will raise that scheduling conflict at the March 19 board meeting to seek broader resolution or further direction to staff.
