Council approves minutes, claims, consent agenda and appoints business improvement district member

Portage council unanimously approved meeting minutes, the consent agenda, claims and appointed Aaron Wenzel to the Business Improvement District at-large seat.
At its meeting, the Portage City Common Council approved routine business including the minutes from the Feb. 13, 2025 common council meeting, the consent agenda (which included reports from city boards and commissions), and claims. The votes were unanimous on roll calls.
Alderson Wetzel moved to approve the Feb. 13 minutes; Alderson Green seconded and the motion carried following a roll-call vote with all present voting aye. The council then approved the consent agenda and a claims item after separate roll-call votes, again with unanimous ayes.
The council also filled a mayoral appointment to the Business Improvement District. Alderson Green moved to appoint Aaron Wenzel to the at-large BID seat (term to expire 12/30/2027); Alderson Feeney seconded. The appointment passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Other routine items on the agenda — such as reports from the Tourism Promotion Commission, Library Board, and Plan Commission — were included under the consent agenda and required no separate action.
The council adjourned after approving these items.
