The Board of Public Works and Safety voted to declare a lengthy list of furniture and electric-department equipment as excess property to prepare for a pending move to the Mid-America Science Park facility.
City staff provided photos and a written list of items they said are not reusable and should be sold on GovDeals, the city’s online auction site. The mayor and staff said many items date from about 2010 and that declaring them excess will allow the city to recover funds through auction and clear space for renovations and relocation.
A motion to declare the listed items excess was made and approved by voice vote. The board did not review the full itemized list aloud during the meeting but noted the list had been emailed to members and that auction proceeds would reimburse the city.
Staff will post the items on the city’s auction platform per standard procedure; no individual sale prices were set during the meeting.
