Council committee recommends E. William Baker for Community Development Authority tenant seat

Mayor Jay Christian Dumas nominated E. William Baker to serve as the tenant representative on the Marlborough Community Development Authority (MCDA) for a three-year term to expire from the date of council confirmation. The Personnel Committee considered the nomination at its February 19 meeting and recommended confirmation by a 3-0 vote.
In his letter the mayor noted Baker’s five years on his tenants association and three years as its secretary; the mayor also cited Baker’s 45-year career in procurement, including service as vice president of procurement for Citibank. Baker told the committee he has been active in condominium associations and tenant governance and described outreach he had done with a state housing organization to understand available supports.
Councilors praised Baker’s hands-on approach and noted the MCDA’s role overseeing community development and housing programs for Marlborough’s youth, elderly and families; the mayor chairs the MCDA. Councilor Brown moved approval. The committee approved the nomination 3-0 and will forward it to the full City Council for confirmation.
