The Tyler City Council approved appointments to municipal court and a construction board during the meeting.
Council approved the presiding municipal court judge’s recommendation to appoint Christina Ross and Tab Bell as alternate municipal court judges. Ross and Bell took the oath of office at the meeting. A city staff member described Ross’s background in estate planning and probate and her service on local boards; staff summarized Bell’s 40-year legal career and local civic involvement. Councilmember McKellar noted he has personally served with both candidates on boards and commended them.
Separately, the council appointed Max Slicker as chair of the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals after the board requested the council make that appointment. The appointment to the construction board was moved and seconded and approved on a voice vote. Council approved both items without recorded opposition.
The appointments add bench capacity for municipal court dockets and fill a leadership role for the local construction appeals board; staff said the alternate judges were selected following a request for qualifications and a selection committee review.
