The Greensville County School Board recorded three formal actions on Jan. 28: approval of student-matters recommendations from closed session, adoption of a revised cell phone policy, and approval of personnel recommendations following a closed-session discussion.
Student matters: Administration presented recommendations from a closed session regarding a student hearing identified in the agenda as student number 2024-M19. Administration moved approval of the recommendations as presented in closed session; a motion and second were recorded and the board voted in favor.
Cell phone policy: The board approved a revision to the Greensville County Public School Code of Conduct to clarify that cell phones are restricted for the "entire school day," replacing the previous phrasing of "bell to bell." The motion was moved and seconded and passed in open session.
Personnel matters: Late in the meeting the board returned to closed session to discuss personnel issues under Virginia Code § 2.2-3711(A)(1). Administration presented amended recommendations in closed session; a motion and second were recorded and the board voted to approve those personnel recommendations.
The meeting transcript records that each motion was moved and properly seconded and that the board voted "aye" on each item; individual roll-call votes and counts were not read into the public record in the portions of the transcript provided.
