The Moraga Town Council at its Feb. 26 meeting took several routine actions by voice vote.
The council adopted the meeting agenda at the start of the session after a motion and second; the motion carried on an affirmative voice vote.
During the consent agenda, councilmembers approved items 6.1 and 6.2 by motion. Councilmember discussion pulled item 6.3 for separate consideration.
Item 6.3 concerned a stormwater/runoff fee of $35 per unit that feeds a countywide maintenance program. Staff explained the $35 fee dated to the early 1990s (the speaker said 1993) and that no automatic inflator or CPI adjustment had been applied. Staff said countywide efforts to raise the fee by ballot have been attempted previously without success and that the town had pursued its own revenue options in the past but those efforts did not pass.
After council discussion, a motion to approve item 6.3 passed unanimously.
Ending: The council recorded the routine approvals by voice vote and did not alter the county-administered fee formula; a county process would be required for a change to the fee structure.
