The York City Public Works Committee voted to place a bill amending the 2025 budget to appropriate fund 20 building repair monies on the March 4, 2025, legislative agenda.
A staff speaker described the bill as a transfer of money from prior building repair funds to cover repairs at several recreation facilities: Yorktown Center, Grosz Park and Memorial Field. The staff member said the work includes replacement of bathroom doors and entrance doors at Yorktown Center.
Council members asked for details about door replacements. A Public Works staff member said the Grosz Park doors are original and date to 1952 and described them as effectively nonexistent plywood replacements. The staff member added that the Yorktown Center doors were last replaced about 40 years ago and have deteriorated.
After discussion a motion and second were offered to place the budget amendment on the March 4 agenda. The motion carried by voice vote and the item was scheduled for March 4.
