Presenter Mr. Meister said the five‑year CIP includes new school construction and renovation, with approximately $135 million of the FY‑26 ask related to new construction and renovation work. He noted major maintenance baseline spending of about $30 million annually can be maintained in FY‑26 assuming a $9 million transfer embedded in the plan, and warned the division faces a shortfall after FY‑26 if additional funding is not secured.
The memo also addresses individual projects: recently completed and near‑completion projects such as Deep Creek Middle School and Bensley, and the West Area High School timetable (with a projected opening in August 2027). Meister told the board the CIP assumes a favorable pricing update for one project compared with earlier superintendent assumptions and that the Chromebook lease expense—about $8 million annually—would begin in FY‑27 but the FY‑26 portion will be funded from FY‑25 commitments.
The board voted to approve “memo 02‑26” as presented; aye votes were recorded from Scott Heffron, Dominique Chatters, Steven Pronto, Lisa Hudgins and Ann Coker.
