Commission approves consent agenda, bill payments and stipends for advisory boards

The Lander County Board of Commissioners approved routine consent items and a series of payments on Feb. 27, along with a new stipend schedule for several advisory boards.

On the consent agenda the board approved the Feb. 27 agenda notice and meeting minutes from Jan. 23 and Feb. 13. The commission then took up payment of bills; several check numbers (227081, 227025, 227048 and 211093) were identified for separate action. The board approved remaining bills, then moved to approve checks 227025 and 227048 and later approved check 211093. One commissioner stated an abstention for checks related to a personal business and a nonprofit (sober seniors) on the record; Commissioner Preston disclosed that two items were for his business and for Sober Seniors and explained his abstention.

Separately the board approved applications to pursue the United We Stand and State Emergency Response Commission grants (see related article) and awarded the Civic Center AV contract (see related article).

The commission also approved providing compensation to members who are not elected public officers for specific boards: Board of Equalization — $125 per day (adopted by resolution later); Debt Management Commission — $40 per day, not to exceed $400 per month; and Planning Commission — $80 per meeting, not to exceed $400 per month. The board directed staff to draft resolutions and return them for adoption.

The meeting concluded with routine correspondence and a future-agenda note to follow up on a ham-radio site at the airport for an upcoming Pony Express event.
