The calendar preserves traditional Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks but shifts the school year so the last day falls after Memorial Day; staff said the goal was to avoid extending into June while giving teachers and students balanced breaks.
Board members noted the calendar’s alignment with surrounding divisions and discussed operational details, including how the earlier scheduling of the student code of conduct first reading (targeted for June) was intended to provide time for review and adoption before the next school year. The item was presented for first reading; the board plans a second reading at an upcoming work session and asked staff to return with any minor adjustments.
