The recommended change order would add about $300,000 to the project, lifting the estimate from $5.9 million to roughly $6.2 million; presenters said that increase remains within the project budget.
“Out of all of the air handling units that you have at Carrollton … these two are the most susceptible to fail,” the division’s construction presenter said in the update, explaining the rationale to avoid an early post‑construction failure. Construction progress meetings will be scheduled once or twice a month, and work on piping and fabrication is expected in spring.
The anticipated project completion date is Aug. 25, timed for school opening. Staff said administrators will be temporarily relocated if needed during work, with phone systems and other equipment moved to alternative locations. Presenters said they will coordinate staging, parking‑lot access, and the removal of personal items from the building with principals to ensure a smooth transition.
