Council approves minor budget increases for water and wastewater plant repairs, accepts Inframark report

Council approved two capital budget overages and accepted the January operations report from Inframark for Lititz Borough’s water and wastewater utilities.
Doug Zook (Inframark) told the Water and Wastewater Committee that the borough’s Budgets for 2025 included a high‑service pump motor rebuild ($33,000) and replacement of flow meters ($18,000). Updated vendor quotes were slightly higher — $1,000 over for the pump motor and $3,602.70 over for the flow meters — producing a requested overage of $4,602.70. Council voted to approve the projects and the over‑budget amounts so work can proceed.
Zook also presented operating highlights for January: Inframark reported the water plant produced about 1.79 million gallons per day (up 5% year to date) and wastewater flow was down about 2.4% at roughly 2.42 million gallons per day. He updated council on PFAS testing requirements and timing (next required testing in 2026 because 2024 results were below reporting limits) and on Capitol projects including centrifuge motor parts and aeration diffuser sock replacement.
Council also accepted the January Inframark report on plant operations by motion.
Why it matters: The approved increases are small but necessary to keep critical plant equipment in service. Accepting Inframark’s report gives council oversight of system performance and schedules for capital repairs.
