BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Senate passed Senate Bill 11‑18 on Feb. 27, a bill sponsors said updates purchasing and public‑works procurement thresholds for political subdivisions to reflect current prices.
Senator Guthrie, sponsor of the measure, told the Senate the bill ‘‘cements three sections of code’’ by raising the dollar thresholds that trigger formal bid processes for political subdivisions and local public‑works procurements. Guthrie said one change aligns an exclusion with the $100,000 exemption adopted last year for public‑works procurements.
On the floor the sponsor described three separate adjustments to current purchasing and public‑works statutes, saying the changes were intended to reduce administrative burden and reflect ‘‘the realities of inflation.’’ The sponsor cited prior statutory thresholds (including figures mentioned on the floor, such as $75,000 and $50,000) and said the bill raises those thresholds to higher levels; the exact statutory dollar amounts will be set out in the bill text as introduced.
A senator noted a potential conflict that was recorded in the journal; no other floor opposition was recorded. The Senate ordered the bill passed and directed it be transmitted to the House.
