RSU 22 board advances policy updates: member compensation, website accessibility, deletions and safety policy approved

On first reading, the board approved an increase in the board member compensation stipend (policy DID) from $25 to $35. The policy committee recommended the raise citing inflation since the policy’s last review in 1998; the motion passed on first reading unanimously.
Technology-related changes were discussed together. The board approved a first reading renaming policy IJNDC to “school system website/web pages” and noted the district must comply with new web accessibility laws over the coming years; staff said they are evaluating a new platform to assist with ADA compatibility. The committee also recommended deleting three older technology policies (IJND RSU number 22 website, INI software, and IJNDC-2 school system website/web pages) as they are redundant with the updated IJNDC; the board approved deleting those three policies as a slate after a friendly amendment to vote on them together.
On second reading, the board approved policy IGAE, bloodborne pathogen exposure, with no changes since first reading.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the minutes from the prior meeting; the transcript records two abstentions on that vote (John Holmes and Bluefield) and the remainder voting in favor.
All votes on the policies and deletions were recorded as unanimous where noted; the minutes-approval vote recorded two abstentions as stated in the public record.
