Staff said the department currently uses older equipment and that the designation and subsequent training would support safer operations.
Staff told council the resolution will be on the March council meeting agenda for formal consideration. No vote was taken at the work session; staff encouraged councilors to call with questions and to consult Pilgrim if they wanted further detail on the training or grant program.
