Evergreen recognizes MetroWatch operator Willie Hite for nightly surveillance and site vigilance

The Evergreen School District Board recognized Willie Hite, a MetroWatch contracted camera operator, for “exemplary support” to district facilities during the Feb. 25 meeting.
Shane Gardner and Marty Matarietta described Hite’s nightly monitoring of district cameras and said his reports led to multiple apprehensions and documentation of incidents including roof climbers, attempts to siphon fuel, graffiti in progress and suspicious vehicles on district property. Mike Alverson, MetroWatch owner, said Hite has worked with the company for a little over 10 years and was the company’s first choice for the district contract due to “integrity” and reliability.
The board and staff praised Hite’s detailed shift reports and proactive follow-up — including patrols on foot and site cleanups — and presented recognition during the meeting. MetroWatch partnership with the district was described as at least a decade long; the board did not approve any contract changes at the meeting.
Why it matters: Regular monitoring of district facilities can reduce vandalism, vehicle-related incidents and theft, improving safety and lowering maintenance costs for schools. The board presented formal appreciation for an individual employee contracted through MetroWatch.
