Shelby County students honored for state swim and All‑State music selections

The Shelby County Board of Education on Feb. 27 recognized students who qualified for state swim meets and those selected for All‑State choir and band. The board presented certificates to athletes and musicians from Shelby County High School, Collins High School and other district schools.
Board members singled out SCHS swimmers Jaden Kirk, George Stevens, Gabe Tosti and (noted as absent) Liam Zindrom, and Collins High qualifiers including Pia, Natalie Agney and Maddie Cunningham. The board also recognized All‑State choir and band participants from Collins High—Charlie Webb, Casey Vaughn, Kylie May, Trent Smith and freshman Annabel Fields—and Shelby County High School students Simon Slodtke, Kenzie Warren, Laura Lauer, Gina Shepherd, Gabe Martin, Garrett Begley, Ryan Chenote, Isaiah Belcher and Lacey Seaman.
Coach Hamblett and other coaches were asked to stand during the recognition. Board members praised the students for representing their schools and Shelby County Public Schools at the state level and thanked teachers and coaches for their work preparing students for competitions and auditions.
The recognitions were presented at the start of the board’s regular meeting; no formal board action was recorded related to the awards.
