Members approved a substitute to correct a scrivener’s error in a previously considered bill, changing a numeric reference from 45 to 43 in the bill text.
The sponsor said the correction was offered to fix a drafting mistake that occurred during preparation of the substitute for legislative counsel and noted that legislative counsel can ordinarily make such changes without returning to committee. The sponsor said the change was minor and asked the committee to approve the bill again with the corrected number.
A committee member confirmed the substitute (LC570255S) contained the correction and a motion to give the bill a favorable recommendation passed by voice vote.
The committee recorded the action as a do-pass recommendation; the corrected substitute will be forwarded to the next step in the legislative process.
