Chairman Crews and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation approved a two‑year committee budget that will authorize the panel's expenditures from March 1, 2025, through Feb. 28, 2027.
Ranking Member Cantwell moved that "the budget resolution for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation be reported favorably," a motion that was seconded and carried by voice vote. "The motion is agreed to. This concludes today's votes," Chairman Crews said after the voice vote.
The chairman described the vote as ministerial and said the allocation had been provided by the Senate Rules Committee, which directed each committee to report an authorization resolution for a two‑year budget period. With the budget adopted, the committee immediately proceeded to a scheduled hearing on spectrum policy.
No budget figures beyond the covered dates were presented during the motion, and no roll‑call tally was recorded in the hearing transcript. The committee did not take additional legislative action on the budget during the hearing.
