Montgomery County Commissioner McDonald spoke to Moraine City Council at the start of the Feb. 27 meeting, identifying herself as the county's newest commissioner and saying she intends to visit every city and township in Montgomery County during the year.
McDonald, who said she had previously served as mayor of Trotwood for eight years and on that city's council for 18 years, said her experience as a mayor and council member gives her perspective on municipal needs. She said she will raise local concerns with state officials and the governor when necessary and invited questions from council members.
When asked whether the county commission would have a role in supporting NATO-related activity coming to the area in May, McDonald said, "Yes, we will. We have work that we're doing now and improvements that we're doing with downtown and making sure that we're able to support, Congressman Turner and the work that's going on there." She added that the event would be positive for the country, state and city.
McDonald introduced members of her staff in the audience and provided contact information for her office. No formal action resulted from the visit; the remarks were presented as a guest update to the council.
