Inspectional services reports housing, food and sanitation activity; snow removal responsibility reiterated
Summary
Inspectional Services reported certificate-of-fitness and food inspections performed in February, a range of exterior sanitation violations including 46 overflowing-dumpster violations and 208 snow-and-ice violations, and reiterated property owners' responsibility to clear sidewalks.
Michael Wells, health agent and director of inspectional services for the City of Revere, presented the department's monthly inspection report to the Board of Health.
Wells said the housing division conducted 136 certificate-of-fitness inspections and 15 reinspections, two interior complaint reinspections and one pool inspection. "In the 2 area housing division we performed 136 certificate of fitness inspections," he said.
On food inspections, Wells reported 32 routine inspections, five reinspections, two complaint inspections, one pre-opening inspection and six temporary food-service inspections.
Wells provided the exterior sanitation violation counts: 28 violations for accumulation of litter, garbage, trash and debris; 5 violations for carts out at improper times; 46 violations for overflowing dumpsters; 4 violations for improper placement of bulky items; 1 violation for an illegally parked vehicle; 1 violation for rodent harborage; 1 violation for unclean/unsanitary land; and 208 violations related to snow and ice.
Wells reiterated that property owners, both residential and commercial, are responsible for removing snow from in front of their properties "so we can ensure we have clear pathways for all of our citizens and residents that are walking on foot throughout our city." No formal action was taken; the report was informational.
