The presiding judge in Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1 reinstated the bond of Mandela Aguna today and withdrew the court's KPS order after hearing that defense counsel failed to notify the court of unavailability.
Defense counsel Mister Kieta told the court he had been assisting with jury selection in another court and forgot to notify the docket of his unavailability. "We are here to fix my mistake," Kieta said, explaining that his client had logged on but lost connection because of phone-service issues.
The state told the court it had no opposition to reinstating the bond. The judge reinstated bond, withdrew the KPS, and set the next court date for April 22. The court also said the defendant's DCO dates remain in place.
Aguna and counsel expressed gratitude for the court adding the matter to the docket and the court noted there were no prior missed settings in the file that would require revocation of bond.
