Staff member reads student letters, praises teachers during Public Schools Week

A staff member at a school board meeting read letters from students and thanked teachers for their work during Public Schools Week, saying the notes highlighted how educators had personally impacted students beyond academics.

The staff member said the letters—written by members of the yearbook club—focused on teachers who "impacted them and touched their life," and that staff would keep the correspondence as a reminder of the district's work. "It's not often that we get thanked by students, you know, in this in this manner, so it's really nice to read these letters and letters and appreciate the fact that they like the education they're receiving," the staff member said.

"When I think about public schools week, I think about taking an opportunity to take a step back and celebrate all of the wonderful things that we do every single day for kids, and being good stewards of those taxpayer dollars," the staff member said. The staff member said the letters would be placed in a box of positive correspondence and used as a reminder on difficult days: "I will take these letters, and these letters will go in a box that I keep, with all of the positive, letters, and cards that I get from time to time. And when I'm having a bad day or I need to be reminded of the great work that we are doing, and reminded of my why, I certainly want you to know that I'll be pulling these letters out, and I'll be reading them."
