Local students sign to play and advance in competitions; Norview qualifies two rifle teams

Students at Lake Taylor and Morey high schools marked National Signing Day ceremonies and local teams advanced in regional competitions, Norfolk Public Schools said.
Lake Taylor High hosted two football signings. Morey High held a ceremony in which nine student athletes signed: two football players, four baseball players and one each from track, field hockey and volleyball, according to the district announcement. One student at the signing said, "My main thing was like, don't stutter. I just didn't wanna stutter. I was kinda like shivery and stuff like shaky, but" and another said, "I worked for this day since I was a freshman ... it feels amazing to put pen and paper."
In a separate competition, Norview Marksmanship placed first and second at the Area 5 air rifle championship and qualified two teams to compete at the NJROTC air rifle championship in Anniston, Alabama in February, the transcript said.
The transcript also congratulated Granby High School junior Megan Thiebarge for winning the Region 5 bee championship for a second consecutive year and Morey High School’s girls swim team for winning the Region 5 championship.
