Deputy Superintendent Dr. Mary Petty told the board that the LCAP’s three goals remain: student achievement and instruction; student wellness and supportive environments; and staff professional development. She reviewed seven actions under Goal 1 (including common assessment use, response to intervention staffing, summer programs, English learner supports and after-school academic help), three actions under Goal 2 (wellness programs, mental-health services and a first-generation college counselor at the high school) and three actions under Goal 3 (targeted professional development aligned to district goals).
Petty said most actions are "in progress," while a small number of expenditures scheduled for late in the fiscal year will not start until after June 30. She emphasized the plan’s statutory purpose: to target unduplicated pupil groups (English learners, low-income students and foster youth) and noted the district’s context as a basic-aid (community-funded) district, which reduces the LCAP-targeted share of the overall budget relative to LCFF-funded districts.
Board members highlighted tutoring and outreach for underperforming students, and trustees asked staff to continue robust community engagement ahead of the year-end LCAP approval process. Trustee Matt Glazer and others praised district staff for outreach and implementation. Petty said the LCAP will be finalized in June with yearly metrics and added that some data points are still in collection or analysis.
