CPAC secures nonprofit status and schedules bullying-prevention talk for March 4

The district’s CPAC (special education parent advisory committee) told the school committee it has received state approval for nonprofit status and will hold its March meeting next Tuesday, March 4, in the lecture hall featuring Dr. Carolyn McKearney, senior fellow at the South Coast Educational Collaborative, who will present on bullying prevention.
CPAC representative Kelly Steele said the nonprofit approval allows the committee to pursue fundraising to support speakers and projects benefiting students with special needs; the committee still must finalize bylaws.
Steele invited attendees to pick up informational flyers after the meeting and said the meeting is open to all parents and caregivers. The presentation time is 6:30–8 p.m., and CPAC representatives said they will share flyers at the exit and welcome the broader district community to attend.
