House bill would require labeling of AI deepfakes in elections, sponsor says

Representative Erin Healy said she introduced a bill addressing artificial-intelligence deepfakes in elections that would create a labeling requirement for such material and incorporate definitions developed during a legislative summer study.
"I brought in a bill on artificial intelligence deepfakes in elections and, having a labeling requirement on those. It passed very it had a lot of strong support this year," Healy said. She added that the attorney generals office had supported the measure and that committee work during a summer study had produced definitions now being placed into code.
