Cumberland County Schools approved the purchase of classroom furniture and specialized fixtures for multiple career and technical education (CTE) labs at middle and high schools during committee meetings on Feb. 27.
District staff said the order from Perfection Equipment covers computer tables with wire access for new lab computers, CPU holders for a drafting lab, and specialty tables and seating for family & consumer science classrooms and middle‑school career readiness labs. The purchase aligns with a planned computer refresh cycle and the computers already ordered for summer installation.
The district said the purchase will be funded through a mix of federal Perkins funds for CTE programming and technology capital outlay where appropriate. Staff said the vendor order timing will allow installation during summer to avoid classroom disruptions.
Board members asked which schools would receive the new furniture; staff said they would provide a grid showing the schools and specific items. Some members asked about elementary inclusion for future purchases; staff said fifth‑grade exploratory and STEM items have been funded in the past and elementary needs will be considered when funding allows.
Committee members moved and approved the purchase order in open session.
