Staff told the Canal Winchester Landmarks Commission on Feb. 24, 2025, that the first floor of the building known as Waterloo 2 has been leased and is being built out for a pediatric dentist and that the tenant will likely seek signage approval from the commission in the future.
Staff said the tenant will occupy the entire building and is “probably gonna be looking at one sign somewhere on that front facade.” Staff also told commissioners that a previously approved sign for Karina’s Pizza will no longer move forward for that space.
Commissioners discussed the zoning‑code update process. The steering committee for the zoning code update met for an introductory session and will play a limited guiding role on items that affect the Landmarks Commission. Staff said Pete Lynch will represent the Landmarks Commission on the steering committee. Staff described the committee’s membership as 12 people, including two council members, two planning/zoning representatives, one Landmarks Commission representative, one member of the chamber of commerce, one member of the Canal Industry and Commerce Corporation (CWICC), and three staff plus the mayor; staff said the steering committee is scheduled to reconvene later in the year.
A speaker also said two residential addition projects are expected to be submitted soon: a roughly 700‑square‑foot one‑story addition at 126 Waterloo and another one‑story addition on Mound Street. No application details or decision dates were provided at the meeting.
