The Danville CCSD 118 Board of Education authorized district staff to issue a request for proposals for student transportation services for a five‑year term covering fiscal years 2026 through 2030. Isis Rankin, director of business and finance, said the district’s current agreement with First Student ends and asked for permission to put transportation services out to bid.
Board members asked whether other companies bid in previous cycles and discussed the operational challenges of running an in‑house fleet, including driver recruitment and scheduling. Rankin said the district typically receives two to three bidders and noted driver recruitment remains difficult in the market. The board approved the motion to solicit bids by roll call, 7‑0.
