The Danville CCSD 118 Board of Education approved a resolution authorizing the interim superintendent to enter negotiations with employee units and provide multi‑year health insurance premium relief to district employees. Seth Oldfield, director of operations, presented the resolution and framed it as part of a multi‑year strategy to contain rising insurance costs.
Oldfield told the board the district saw large premium increases this renewal cycle; the health insurance committee has pursued network adjustments and other cost containment measures in recent years. The resolution authorizes the interim superintendent to negotiate with the Danville Education Association and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 and to provide premium relief not to exceed $462,000 in calendar year 2025, and to provide relief calculated at 22 percent of individual and dependent premiums for calendar years 2026 and 2027, subject to negotiated memoranda of agreement. Human resources director Kimberly Papps and the superintendent explained the aim is to provide near‑term relief (staff reported an intention to post relief in March pay cycles if numbers can be processed) and to allow time to explore longer‑term cost containment strategies including broker review and plan design changes.
The board approved the resolution by roll call vote, 7‑0.
