Struthers City Council approves emergency transfers to police and fire pensions and elderly van fund

The transfers were introduced as budget-category moves from the 2025 general fund. The police pension transfer was read as moving $60,000 from the 2025 general fund budget category “transfer to police pension number 100910059004” into the police pension fund number 805000047101. The fire pension ordinance moved $45,000 from the 2025 general fund budget category “transfer to fire pension number 100910059005” into fire pension fund number 810000047101. The elderly-van ordinance moved $5,000 from the 2025 general fund budget category 100910059003 to the elderly van revenue category 265000047101 and included an emergency declaration.
Council members indicated unanimous support among those present for each item after the clerk called the roll. Council member attendance at the start of the meeting listed Mr. Valley, Mr. Bayes, Mr. Beagley, Mr. Burnside, Mr. Carceli, Ms. Kingley and Council President Patrick as present; Ms. Gohman was recorded as absent. The clerk read a communication from Christina S. Bowles, Struthers city auditor, submitting the monthly statement of cash position and related January 2025 revenue and expense reports before the ordinances were considered.
No amendments or substantive debate on the transfers were recorded in the meeting transcript; each ordinance was advanced by a motion to suspend the rules and passed by roll-call votes of the members present.
