A representative of Public Communicators Group and the town manager presented a proposal on Feb. 20 for a comprehensive public-relations and communications contract to provide digital newsletters, social-media management, video and photography and crisis communications.
Evan Ross of Public Communicators Group described services and said the firm is working in partnership with the town manager. The manager told commissioners the proposed contract cost is $12,500 per month and that it includes a 60-day cancellation clause. He characterized the contract as a way to provide skills the town might not hire full time, such as videography, graphic design and crisis communications.
Commissioners asked about cost, frequency of printed materials, and the town’s existing email records. Commissioner Jacobs said the town had collected resident email addresses during COVID and that moving to a monthly digital newsletter would be more cost-effective than mailed print newsletters. The manager and the consultant noted that the contract could be scaled or cancelled with notice and suggested a digital monthly newsletter with an optional quarterly printed newsletter.
Commissioner Kashim moved to place the contract on the consent agenda. The item was recommended to be added to the consent agenda for action at the next meeting; no final vote on contract approval was recorded at the workshop.
