Port Richey revises Centennial events schedule; organizers consolidate and cut some activities

Organizers said they removed or combined events with low participation. They plan a car show on April 12, a food truck night April 13, a redfish-only fishing tournament April 19, a golf scramble April 28, and a business expo April 30. The main Centennial weekend will begin May 10 with a kickoff parade and culminate May 17–18 with a Centennial Festival, a Johnny Cash tribute concert and fireworks at Waterfront Park, and the installation of a time capsule at City Hall.
Staff said March will be used for marketing and that flyers, online sign-ups and QR payment links should be finalized by early March. The mayor’s ball ticket price was discussed ($100 for individual tickets; a table of eight at $750), and staff said they are still working with the city attorney on statutes governing entry fees and prize funds for tournaments. The administration noted statutory limits: certain prize funds cannot be funded directly from entry fees for some events (fishing and golf), though exceptions exist for events such as bowling tournaments under Florida statutes.
