Authority says Norton City Pier steel sheeting specs will go to bid in April

Fall River Redevelopment Authority project manager Karen Martin told the board on Feb. 26 that the Norton City Pier steel sheeting specification package is being finalized and is scheduled to advertise on April 2, with a pre-bid site meeting April 9 and bids due April 17.
Martin said she sent the front end of the draft specifications to FOTH Engineering to incorporate into the full package and that staff remain on target to have advertisement and notice placed in the central register and newspaper schedule. She told the board she expects staff to return to the authority’s April meeting with a recommended contractor so work could begin in early May.
Board members asked about expected contractor interest; Martin said she planned outreach calls before advertisement to encourage plan pickup and attendance at the pre-bid meeting but did not provide a count of prospective bidders.
Martin said staff will fine-tune the specifications in the coming weeks and will report back to the authority when bid prices are known and when a contractor selection is proposed.
