Staff summarized the consent items: a resolution to adopt design-build procurement procedures (a method the school board routinely uses that the general government may employ for future projects), the annual paving and related services contract, authorization to expand the Capital Bikeshare network under the bike master plan, and the purchase and installation of playground equipment at Berman Park (staff said the procurement package includes installation and community vetting and that the project price reflects the full package).
Staff also noted operational scheduling: the hunting ordinance will be placed on the Feb. 10 meeting for first reading with a public hearing set for Feb. 24; a co-responder report will be presented on Feb. 10; the volunteer fire department will be recognized at the March 24 meeting for its 100th anniversary; and staff expects to bring forward additional items in March including discussion of sewer-capacity purchase agreements related to a private-site plan and affordable-housing briefings. Staff said the towing ordinance language will be drafted only after the Towing Advisory Board and stakeholder input.
Council members asked for specifics to be included in the Feb. 10 packet: more detail on the Berman Park playground option chosen after community meetings and a list of locations for the new bikeshare stations. Staff agreed to include the additional materials in the meeting packet. No formal votes were taken on these consent items at the work session; they will appear on the Feb. 10 consent calendar for action at that meeting.
