The Fargo Liquor Control Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes of its Dec. 18, 2024 meeting and to grant three liquor-license transfers during its regular meeting.
Board members moved quickly through routine business after a public presentation earlier in the meeting. Staff member Steve Sprague told the board the police chief recommended approval of the transfers after background checks and follow-up on credit-history notes. "We have done the background check, and there were no issues of concern that were raised in the background check," Sprague said.
The board approved the following transfers by voice vote: the Class A license for 5 18 Properties LLC (formerly Summit Nightclub) to be placed in Tyler Brandt—s name as an intermediate step before a future ownership change; the Class A license formerly held by Borrowed Bucks to No Blue LLC, doing business as Live at Uptown Maine at 2850 Uptown Way; and an FA golf license from Spirit Properties to Edgewood Tavern LLC to operate at 19 Golf Course Road.
Sprague told the board that police reviews had shown limited or dated criminal-history items and some credit-history notes for certain applicants; staff planned additional checks on credit-history items to ensure records were accurate. Regarding the golf-course license, Sprague said the new operator would meet FA golf requirements, including meeting seasonal food-sales thresholds. "He'll meet all of the requirements. He's fully aware of what they are," Sprague said.
Board members voiced concern that applicants had occasionally omitted or "forgotten" to disclose past incidents on reports, a point one commissioner called "not a good way to start" the relationship with city authorities. No formal conditions or continuances were announced; each item passed on a voice vote with the board saying "aye." The meeting record shows one member participated by phone.
The approvals complete the board's routine licensing work for the meeting and set the listed establishments up to proceed with ownership changes and planned operations, subject to the usual city licensing processes.
