Commission OKs rezoning and plat for Grassroom First Edition subdivision

The Fargo City Commission approved a zoning change and the preliminary plat for the project presented to staff as the Grassroom First Edition, a proposed subdivision that would create 13 lots served by a private drive.
Donald Kress of the Department of Planning and Development presented the item and said the property is largely undeveloped with two residences to remain zoned agricultural. The proposal would rezone lots 2 through 12 to limited industrial zoning, similar to adjacent property in the Veterans Industrial Park. Kress noted one minor plat modification would be made by the project surveyor to correct a street name notation.
Representatives in the meeting included Chris Mack of Christianson's Companies and property owner Hans Grafstrom, both present and available to address commissioners. The planning commission had recommended approval at its Dec. 3 meeting, as noted in the staff report.
A public hearing was opened; no members of the public spoke. The commission moved, seconded and approved the rezoning ordinance (first reading) and the subdivision plat on a roll-call vote.
Kress said the proposed private drive will not be the city’s responsibility. The commission recorded affirmative votes from commissioners Peppcorn, Kolpak, Strand, Turnberg and Mahoney.
