State home visiting leadership plans regional in-person conference and March Capitol advocacy day

Lisa Williams (Kansas State Department of Education, Parents as Teachers) and Holly Fry (Kansas Department of Health and Environment) briefed the summit on the State Home Visiting Leadership Group’s activities.
Williams said the group’s purpose is to examine policy, standards and the infrastructure for home visiting in Kansas and to recommend changes to make access seamless across the continuum. She described a December virtual home-visiting conference that generated about 300 registrations and a set of priority areas: statewide availability, workforce recruitment and retention, advocacy and family capacity (referrals translating to engagement).
Holly Fry said the leadership team plans to host a 2025 Kansas Home Visiting Conference in person across five regions (moving from virtual to hybrid/in-person regional convenings) and to develop an action plan to achieve the four stated priorities. She invited stakeholders to Kansas Home Visiting Programs Day at the Capitol on March 5 to elevate home visiting’s impact and asked partners to coordinate presence that day. Williams and Fry also said they will continue to update kansashomevisiting.org to reflect the full continuum of services available in Kansas.
