Antietam Broadband pulling fiber through Hampstead; several commercial site plans delayed by stormwater review

Town staff told the Hampstead Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb. 26 that Antietam Broadband continues to install fiber in town and that several commercial site plans remain in technical review.
The zoning administrator said Antietam Broadband is pulling fiber through the conduit in Hampstead, installing aerial fiber on Main Street and side streets, and completing final CSX crossings. "Some residents in the town have already signed up for a fiber service and should be receiving service shortly," the administrator said.
On development, staff reported the WashX car wash project is on hold pending an updated traffic study and the developer's lease renegotiation with the landlord. Tractor Supply and the "Wise Gas and Go" site plans remain under county review and are waiting specifically on stormwater management approval, which staff described as currently backed up at the county level.
Commissioners did not take votes on the commercial site plans at tonight's meeting; staff said they will continue to monitor county reviews and coordinate with developers and consultants.
The broadband and development updates were delivered as part of the zoning administrator's regular monthly report and were presented to the commission to note progress and outstanding technical issues.
