Summary
At its Feb. 25 hearing the Quincy City License Board approved one-day liquor licenses for sports and market events, special-use permits for several road races and runs, and transfers/new licenses for multiple businesses, and moved its September hearing date.
The Quincy City License Board approved a package of event permits, one‑day liquor licenses and business license transfers during its Feb. 25 hearing, clearing alcohol service for stadium games and markets, special-use permits for community races and runs, and new or transferred retail licenses for several businesses.
The board, chaired by Chair Newton, voted to approve a series of one‑day liquor licenses for the New England Free Jacks to serve alcohol at Veterans Memorial Stadium, 850 Hancock Street, for the team’s 2025 home matches and potential playoff dates listed in the application. Alex Grayland, representing the Free Jacks, said the dates were the same as last year.
The board also approved a special‑use permit for the Bill Dunn Junior Memorial Road Race, scheduled for Saturday, June 28; a special‑use permit for the Clifford Marshall and Point Webster PTO Family Fun Run and Wellness Expo on Saturday, May 31 (organizers said the event draws about 400 participants and uses the same route and police/fire support as last year); and a one‑day liquor license for Break Rock Brewing to serve at the White Pine Market at Boston Harbor Studios on Saturday, March 1 from noon to 6 p.m.
Other approvals included the 26th annual Best Buddies Challenge (riders expected through Quincy between about 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 31); a common victualler (restaurant) license for Quincy International Foods Inc., proposed manager Saleem Maharmo, for premises at 527–529 Washington Street with hours 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; an off‑premises retail package store (wine and malt beverages) license for MAA Avati Corporation doing business as Welcome Market at 279 Willard Street, Suite 2, proposed manager Jay Patel; and a transfer of the wines and malt beverages restaurant license for Bravo Pizzeria at 531 Washington Street to Bravo Quincy Inc., with proposed manager Nick Patel.
On procedural business the board voted to move its scheduled Sept. 2 hearing to Sept. 9 due to a possible city preliminary election on Sept. 2, and approved minutes from the Jan. 28 hearing.
Most items were described by applicants as unchanged from prior years; board members asked routine operational questions such as presence of food vendors and coordination with special‑events staff. Chief Kennedy confirmed departmental coordination for events that require police or fire support. No contested items, denials or roll‑call vote tallies by name were recorded in the transcript for these agenda items; motions to approve were made and the board indicated unanimous assent with “Aye” on each vote.
