The Sycamore CUSD 427 Board of Education voted to accept the fiscal year 2024 audit as presented. District staff told the board the operating funds ended the year with an $84,000 surplus, compared with a projected $45,000 surplus.
The audit was the district's second year with the current auditors; staff described the auditors as thorough and cooperative. The board set a finance workshop for March 13 at 6 p.m. to review district finances in greater depth; auditors will attend for part of that meeting so board members and staff can discuss audit findings and ask follow‑up questions.
Board members praised staff work supporting the audit and said a dedicated workshop would help the board better understand school finance and statutory changes that affect future budgets. The audit approval was carried by roll call.
