Morton Grove swears in firefighter Brett Wattleworth

Village officials said Wattleworth began employment with the department on Feb. 17, 2025. According to the introduction given at the podium, he completed the NPSTA Fire Academy in spring 2024 and is enrolled in the VISTA Paramedic Program in Waukegan. Presenters said Wattleworth previously completed EMT school and worked for the Beach Park Fire Department for one year.
At the podium, Wattleworth repeated the oath of office and signed required documentation. Village presenters said he will begin assigned duty on Redshift next week.
Speakers recognized Wattleworth's ties to the region: he grew up in Gurnee, attended Warren Township High School, and graduated from the University of West Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in criminology. Family members were introduced in the meeting and stood with him during the swearing-in.
The event was ceremonial; no board action was required beyond the oath and the public introduction. The village noted staffing and training details as part of the department's staffing updates.
