Board records APAC concurrence on American Indian Education Plan; chair to sign compliance documents

Amy Geschmeyer, the district’s American Indian Education Coordinator, told the board that APAC met and reviewed the American Indian Education Plan and issued a vote of concurrence. Steve Johnson, representing APAC, read the committee’s resolution on Feb. 25.
Johnson said the APAC issued its concurrence in January 2025 and that “no further action is required beyond the board chair's signature, which completes the annual compliance process.” Geschmeyer told the board the district currently identifies 87 students as American Indian for state reporting and that the APAC helped with outreach and designation accuracy.
The board heard the reading as an informational compliance item; the presenter said the district will submit the compliance documents to the Minnesota Department of Education before the March 1 deadline.
